Smith Announces 2010 Third District Congressional Art Competition Winning Artists
WASHINGTON, DC- Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today announced the winning artists for the 2010 Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery.
The Congressional Arts Caucus annually has sponsored the Congressional Arts Competition as a nationwide competition for high school students from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to showcase their artistic abilities. One work from each congressional district will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Congressman Smith also will display the Third District runners-up in his Washington, D.C. and district offices.
The winners are listed below. Pictures of the artwork are available upon request.
First place:
Kassie Starkey, "Alone in Thought" - Pointalism, pen and ink
Blue Hill High School, 12th grade
Kassie's work will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
Kassie is the student of Christine Brown
Second place:
Danielle Wallace, "Portrait in a Cassette Tape" - Cassette tape ribbon
Blue Hill High School, 12th grade
Danielle's work will be on display in Smith's Washington, D.C. office.
